Sutphen Corporation"Quality is a system, not a slogan."

Sutphen has an outstanding reputation in the fire industry. And it’s no wonder. With over 116 years of operation (the company was started in 1890 by C.H. Sutphen), it is the oldest continuously owned and operated fire apparatus manufacturer in the country.

Sutphen has remained in the Sutphen family since it began, with the fourth generation of Sutphens still owning and operating it.

That solid foundation is why, when Sutphen offered a fire apparatus and required fuel for the Code 3 for a Cure journey across America, the Code 3 Firefighters were not only overwhelmed with gratitude, but comforted in the knowledge that they will now have a safe and reliable fire engine for their journey.

C.H. Sutphen was living proof of the American dream. It’s mind boggling to think that the very first Sutphen fire engine was built in an employee’s garage! Yet today, Sutphen is comprised of five factories nationwide with its headquarters located in Ohio, where Mr. Sutphen first set out to achieve his dream. As with any tremendous achievement,  Sutphen began with a vision and succeeded with determination.

While looking back over the past 116 years, Sutphen looks forward to an exciting future of continued growth and change with the fire service. And the Code 3 Crew certainly looks forward to the honor of being able to drive a safe, high quality apparatus across the United States.

Thank you, Sutphen Corporation. The Code 3 crew salutes you for your kindness, your generosity, and your unwavering commitment to excellence.
